What Is GMC Doing about Hybrids?

truck dealerWith all of the talk about hybrids and trucks, you might be wondering where GMC fits into the equation. When you hear the word “hybrid,” other companies typically come to mind. But that doesn’t mean GMC isn’t creating hybrids.

As a matter of fact, GMC is the leader in hybrid vehicles if you’re looking for trucks or full-sized SUVs. During the first quarter of 2008, the automaker sold nearly 850 hybrid vehicles and about 80 percent of those were large trucks. That’s going to change, though.

GMC is trying to increase its hybrid sales in order to compete with the other automakers. According to Eric Fedeva, GMC is going to be a serious contender in the hybrid market in the next few years. He expects the automaker to produce upwards of 50,000 hybrid models this year alone. That would be more than double the number the company made last year!

Currently, GM is producing five full hybrid vehicles. But the automaker plans to introduce three more later this year. And when the company does start producing more hybrids, it will undoubtedly attract more customers because of the popularity of trucks and full-size SUVs. With all of these things going on, there’s never been a better time to visit your local GMC truck dealer and see the fuel-efficient options available for you.
