So you’ve made the decision to purchase a new car or truck from your GMC dealer but you are nervous about the test drive. This is common for many car buyers as they do not know what to look for while they are taking the vehicle on a drive to test it. Here are some tips to reduce the anxiety and help you find the car that’s right for you.
Take a drive similar to your planned use. If you are going to use the vehicle mostly for commuting, take the cars you are considering for drives in stop-and-go traffic. This will give you an idea of gas mileage and the way it handles in such conditions. Similarly, if you plan to take it on trips through mountains, find some steep grades to see how the cars drive in those conditions as well.
Get in and out of the car. Can you get in and out easily? Or is it a chore every time you need to get out? Also, test out the backseat if you plan on carrying passengers. See if it is comfortable and roomy enough for people who often ride with you.
Go for complete silence. Ask the salesperson to save the pitch for after the test drive and leave the radio off, too. The quieter it is on the inside of the vehicle, the better you will be able to hear how it runs and if anything sounds “funny.”
