GMC Offering Huge Incentives for Truck Buyers

philadelphiaFalling sales in an already struggling economy can mean trouble. But in the case of GMC, it means great deals for consumers!

In order to encourage more people to buy full-size trucks and SUVs, GMC is offering huge incentives and rebates. For many 2007 and 2008 models, those rebates could be as much as $2,500! How does that sound for an incentive?

As the world’s largest automaker, GM has been trying to raise its sales figures amidst an uncertain economy. According to Steve Lowry, a sales manager at a GMC truck dealer and car dealer in Omaha, Nebraska, the new incentives “should help to drive some traffic to the showroom.” This combined with new hybrid trucks and full-sized SUVs should be a great reason for consumers to try one of these vehicles on for size.

Some models are excluded from the incentives program, though. If you are looking to buy a Hummer, a Pontiac G8 or a Corvette, you’ll likely be paying the full price without the cash rebates.

The program was designed to coincide with the Memorial Day holiday and will run until June 2. Don’t miss your chance to get a great deal on an awesome vehicle with a sizable rebate. Who knows when this type of deal will come along again?

Hearse Con 2008 Rolls Into Denver

HearseHearse enthusiasts come in many forms. Some daintily protect their cars, driving them only onto and off trailers or on a very occasional foray to the next county. Others see their hearses as art pieces, and travel with them to art shows and other get togethers around the country. Still others ride their hearses hard, using them as a primary form of transportation and eagerly taking them to any event possible.

Hearse enthusiasts of this last group recently congregated in Denver for Hearse Co 2008. It was clear that the local media was unsure what to make of the event, but the hearse enthusiasts had a fabulous time. Sponsored by the Denver Hearse Club, the convention was clearly designed for those who believe life is meant to be lived and hearses are meant to be enjoyed.

A particularly unique factor that makes Hearse Con different from the rest is that it is free. While most shows require an admission fee and recommend an expensive convention hotel, Hearse Con charged less than $7 for the single charged event, a tour of a local transportation museum. Accommodations were at a local campground – camp out in your hearse and spend the night drinking with your new friends around the campfire. The camping fee was only $20 per vehicle.

Hearse Con is not for everyone, but if you love to live life, make new friends and show off your hearse, it can be an excellent choice. So why not start making plans for next year’s Hearse Con 2009? If you have not yet found the perfect car, we hope you will consider our friendly dealership. We can help you find the hearse of your dreams.

Truck Lovers are Hardcore

paYou might think that $4 per gallon gas prices would stop a truck lover from driving his most prized possession. But you’d be wrong.

You see, guys who own trucks are of an entirely different ilk than most other car owners. To them, the truck isn’t just something that gets them around town. Their truck is their life. The pickup truck is what legends are made from. Musicians write country songs about their truck. And in some of these songs, losing their truck is even worse than losing their wife. You’re not going to damper a truck lover’s spirits simply by raising gas prices.

Many guys use their truck on the job. Whether they’re hauling large materials or towing a trailer, their truck gets them through the day. Others use their truck for carrying their tools to job sites.

The pickup truck is also an iconic part of America. It’s like the modern-day horse to the proverbial cowboy. They can travel around deserts and even through some of the roughest terrain. It’s hard to stop a four-wheel drive truck. That’s why truck lovers have that pioneering spirit that has come to be synonymous with the American heritage.

Does any of this sound like you? If so, we have everything you need at your local GMC truck dealer. With a variety of big, full-sized trucks and SUVs, you can continue showcasing your spirit through your truck regardless of today’s gas prices. And if those prices are too high for you, we can even put you in a new, more efficient full-size truck that meets your needs! Either way, we got you covered.

What Is GMC Doing about Hybrids?

truck dealerWith all of the talk about hybrids and trucks, you might be wondering where GMC fits into the equation. When you hear the word “hybrid,” other companies typically come to mind. But that doesn’t mean GMC isn’t creating hybrids.

As a matter of fact, GMC is the leader in hybrid vehicles if you’re looking for trucks or full-sized SUVs. During the first quarter of 2008, the automaker sold nearly 850 hybrid vehicles and about 80 percent of those were large trucks. That’s going to change, though.

GMC is trying to increase its hybrid sales in order to compete with the other automakers. According to Eric Fedeva, GMC is going to be a serious contender in the hybrid market in the next few years. He expects the automaker to produce upwards of 50,000 hybrid models this year alone. That would be more than double the number the company made last year!

Currently, GM is producing five full hybrid vehicles. But the automaker plans to introduce three more later this year. And when the company does start producing more hybrids, it will undoubtedly attract more customers because of the popularity of trucks and full-size SUVs. With all of these things going on, there’s never been a better time to visit your local GMC truck dealer and see the fuel-efficient options available for you.

Insuring Your Limo: What You Should Know

LimoIf you are purchasing a limo for personal use, then you may be able to insure as an extra vehicle on your personal auto insurance policy or through a specialty car insurance company. If you will be using the vehicle commercially, however, then you will need specialized business insurance. The insurance package that you select will depend on your needs. Provided here is a brief overview of some common limo insurance considerations.

Coverage Options
A limo is a specialized vehicle with unique considerations. You will obviously need to purchase insurance to cover the vehicle’s value as well as liability insurance. If you have employees, you will also need workers compensation insurance. If you carry passengers, you will need business insurance.

However, this basic coverage may not be enough. If you have special equipment installed, such as a TV, VCR or bar, you might want to consider insuring those items as well. You will also need to purchase insurance that will cover your customers’ and employees’ personal property and medical expenses in the event of an accident. You can even purchase insurance that will cover the cost of returning your limo to you if it is stolen and then recovered.

Combining Insurance Products
Although many of the above mentioned products are not strictly automobile insurance items, you may want to consider putting together a single package. This can often net significant discounts. Look online for companies that specialize in limo insurance products.

The Bottom Line
The precise insurance products you need will depend on your state laws and individual needs. Look for a specialized limo insurance company that is familiar with the laws of your state. He or she can help you find the insurance package that is best for you.

Truck Customizers Enjoying Success

trucksIf you own a truck, there’s a good chance you’ve either customized it to showcase something about you or you’ve at least thought about doing that. There’s just something inherent about truck owners that makes them want to customize their vehicle.

That’s why Don McIntee, a Canadian resident, decided to get into the truck customization business. He opened a shop in Queen City in the Northgate Mall. He named his business the Sunface Truck Accessories. At first, it did fairly well in terms of business and customers. But after a couple years, it started to grow steadily. In fact, his son recently became a co-owner of the business and the father-son team is beginning to look into expanding and growing in the near future.

At first, McIntee’s business just concentrated on basics like step bars and chrome grills. But over the years, he’s expanded his options and he now offers a bunch of “shiny stuff” that he calls “bling.” He also has a large number of truck boxes and other practical features that truck owners generally want to add to their vehicle.

Sunface Truck Accessories has even gotten to the point to where they don’t need to order parts anymore. They usually have all the parts that a customer asks for because they can afford to stock them now. This makes customers happy because they can just stop in on a whim and get pretty much whatever they’re looking for. But if it’s something they don’t carry, McIntee is more than happy to order it for the customer.

In addition to parts, Sunface Truck Accessories also has a “tricked out” truck in the store for customers to look at and get ideas from. A 50-inch TV plays a DVD with the numerous products and options available for customers to purchase for their own trucks.

If you just purchased or if you’re thinking about purchasing a truck or SUV from your local GMC truck dealer, think about adding some of your own “bling” to it and show others what you’re all about. It’s not only a great way to show-off, it can also add a great deal of value to your truck.

Are Hybrid Cars Good for Us?

gmc truck dealerThere are people in our society who will want to make you feel guilty about going somewhere like a truck or SUV dealer to get your next new vehicle. They claim that hybrids are much better for us as a nation. But are their claims unfounded? Are hybrids really that much better for us than trucks? This blogger doesn’t think so. Here’s why.

Despite the belief that hybrids emit smaller amounts of greenhouse gases, this doesn’t necessarily mean they are the “next best thing.” In fact, many people who have driven hybrids for a long distance have reported that it made them drowsy. With their quiet motors and lack of exhaust noise, you can’t hardly tell the car is on! That could be a problem for people who want to drive at night or even during the day after a long shift at work.

But that’s not even the half of it. The electricity that the car uses to operate the vehicle isn’t good for our health either. In some studies, this exact type of magnetic field has been linked to leukemia in children and other health problems. Organizations like the National Institutes of Health and the National Cancer Institute have also admitted the potential hazards of hybrids because the driver is exposed to long periods of electromagnetic fields. Some even liken it to living in a neighborhood where these high-voltage utility lines are present.

So if you want that large truck or SUV, don’t hesitate to visit your local GMC truck dealer. And if a hybrid-lover gives you grief, just smile and walk away secure in the fact that you won’t be subject to the same potentially harmful electromagnetic fields that they encounter every day.

Six Gas-Saving Myths, Part Two

trucksDo you want to save more gas? Who doesn’t these days? But you want to make sure those measures you’re taking are actually working. Here are three more pieces of gas-saving advice that don’t actually increase your fuel efficiency.

4. Use Premium Gas
Many people have given the advice that premium gas gives your car better gas mileage. If you just bought a vehicle from your local GMC truck dealer, you might even notice that the manual says that premium fuel is “recommended.” But that doesn’t mean it’s necessary. The only thing that happens when you use regular instead of premium is that the engine automatically adjusts the spark plug timing. You might lose a little bit of horsepower as a result, but you won’t notice it unless you’re drag racing.

5. Fill ‘er Up in the Morning
One longtime gas myth is that you get more fuel if you get gas in the morning. People say that since colder liquids have a thicker density, you get more gas molecules while the weather is colder. This isn’t true. The gasoline temperature doesn’t really change throughout the day. As a result, you’re not really getting any more than you would later in the day.

6. Changing the Air Filter
This tops most lists of ways to save gas. But modern cars have sensors that adjust the fuel-air mixture according to the cleanliness of the air filter. The engine does lose a bit of power if the air filter gets extremely clogged, but the difference is really unnoticeable.

There you have it. Now you can tell people that they’re wrong when they tell you that you should use one of these ways to save gas. Isn’t it great when you know something that they don’t?

Prom Season Is in the Air, Despite Economic Concerns

LimoIt is that time of year again, when high school juniors and seniors are consumed by thoughts of their proms. Prom is the major social event of an entire high school career, and teens want to go all-out. Yet the economic realities of today can put a damper on high priced dreams. Nonetheless, enterprising teenagers and their families are finding ways to lower costs while maintaining the best traditions of the event. Here are a few tips on saving money at the prom.

Share a Limo
While some teens choose to drive themselves to the prom, a limo is an important factor in many teens’ prom plans. There is no reason to forego the limo if the expense is shared among a group. Most limos will hold at least eight to ten passengers, making the price per person quite reasonable. Parents may also like the security of knowing that their kids have a safe ride to and from the dance.

Make Your Own Dress or Have One Made
Prom has become big business, and many dresses rival the cost of bridesmaid dresses. Rather than drop $200 or more on a dress that you may wear only once, why not design your own? You can make it yourself if you have the skills, or hire a local dressmaker. You will have the added benefit of ensuring that no one else will be wearing your dress.

Consider a Caterer
Dinner is a big part of most teens’ prom night, but restaurant costs can add up quickly. Some teen groups have started hiring a private caterer. You will get a personalized menu at a fraction of the cost.

The Bottom Line
Prom is the biggest social event of a high school career. Today’s difficult economy has led enterprising families to develop create ways of cutting costs while providing the prom experience of their dreams. Sharing your limo, designing your own dress and hiring a caterer are just a few easy ways to keep the costs down and enjoy a memorable prom night.
